User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Gave me some ideas I hadn’t considered
I found this book to be extremely helpful. I have been selling more regularly this year but needed to be much more focused and disciplined so I could remain at home with my son. While there were certainly some things I had figured out myself, there were at least 2 ideas (regarding sales ranking and also price revisions) I had not considered and I feel the book has helped me immensely with that. (And also inspired me since it was written by a stay-at-home mom such as myself!)

5 Stars Hands Down the Most Up to Date Informative Book on the Subject
Don’t let the comb binding fool you, this is the most up-to-date, relevant book I have read on the subject, while simultaneously sparing the reader from the all too common dry presentation of this type of how-to material. To begin, rather than simply detailing information you could acquire yourself, like how to package books, etc., this book does a great job of taking the reader through the process of starting a business selling books online by interweaving necessary nuts and bolts information into her personal experience. As some other reviewers remarked, reading the book is like sitting in a cafe with her (the author) as she acts as your personal mentor, laying out a do-able program with an upbeat style. She seems to predict the questions you would most want to ask and then answers them in a manner that gets a lot of information in without reading like an owner’s manual. The author takes you step-by-step through the early days of her business, mistakes and all, to the point where she is making a respectable profit, employing her unique teaching method along the way. She profiles the booksellers she knows and how their business models differ from one another, giving you a clear idea of what the business really look likes from day-to-day, how much money you can expect to make at each stage, how much work you have to do to meet your own income objectives, while addressing both the needs of those who want a part-time and a full-scale business. There’s also a potent amount of information about finding and selecting books, with examples of the “types” of books to look for, paired with lots of examples of the books she sold from her own inventory, which I found worth the price of the book, in and of itself.

5 Stars How to Sell Books on Amazon: The stay-at-home mom’s Secret Step-by-step Guide to Selling Used Books on Amazon
This is the best starting place for anyone that wants to sell books on Amazon.com. The book is very user friendly, written in way that anyone can understand. I recommend this book. You will not be sorry.

5 Stars Very helpful
A lot of concise, useful information in a slim volume. Very helpful for anyone thinking about selling books online, whether they are stay-at-home Moms or not. Profiles of sellers with very different business strategies are instructive and motivating.

1 Star Waste of time! Don’t buy!
I recently bought this book. It is spiral bound like it was made at Kinkos. After reading it and checking out the information in it I found that the author left out a ton of pertinent information.

First of all, the information in regards to the phone you should have and the scanner are really misleading. She neglects to tell you that you can only get this device through one company and they have to format a special phone for you. I called the company she lists and was told that the cost is between $600 and $800. She doesn’t tell you that.

Second, the information on buying postage online is wrong. She states that using a company called [...] is great. She says you can send books media mail rate and add delivery confirmation for only an additional fourteen cents. You cannot add delivery confirmation to any media mail, it is not allowed by the USPS. [...] charges you a monthly fee as well. You might as well just sign up with the USPS and save the monthly fee.

Third, she gives a lot of bad advice on how much to pay for books. She pays way too much for her books and advises you to do the same.

It almost seems like she is plugging these bad companies for a fee. You can find much more information by just researching online. Say yourself some money and don’t buy it.
