5 Stars Loved this business plan
I really liked this book. It was recommended to me by my virtual assistant. I was dreading doing a business plan because they looked so complicated and boring. But this book is very simple and easy to use. The CD helps you to answer all the questions about the business that you have in your head but need to get on paper. Once I got started, I realized that I had a lot of ideas for my business and that I didn’t have to do them all at once. I would definitely recommend this book to any entrepreneur who is not very analytical and who does not enjoy the tedium of a typical business plan. This is THE book for the more creative types who need to get plans on paper but don’t want to do it the traditional way.
5 Stars A multimillion dollar tool
This book makes writing a business plan so easy. The way of business today shows that the one-page plan is the best tool for putting your ideas out there. I haven’t work with all of the tools, but what I’ve work with was enough to land a few angel investors. This could easily be the first tool to start your way towards working for yourself.
While I haven’t used anything, what I’ve found the software lacking is an org chart to show investors who you plan to structure the company, a tool to prepare a statement of incorporation, and a Gantt chart program to lay out the timeline for all that goes into starting up a business. Unless you have that 1% of businesses that can start the second you turn on the lights for the first time, it’s irrelevent. For the remaining 99% of us, we need something like this.
4 Stars Simplifies business plan writing
Strong foundation for writing a business plan. Very easy to read. Very concise information. A tremendous resource for business planning. Simplifies things very well. I highly recommend.
4 Stars Business Planning Made Easy
This workbook really gets you down to the bones of why you do what you do. Why do you even want your own business?
The repetition of the exercises really helps you hone your true vision and mission statement. The brainstorming exercises which are easy, leads you to crafting the business plan. The exercises also help you get more focused on projects to move the business forward.

This book is great for creative people who have a great business idea but hate the drudgery of writing out a business plan. Without this book I never would have gotten my plan finished.
5 Stars Great Place to Start Planning
If you have been overwhelmed by the dry, tedious business plan models from the SBA, SCORE, or most other business advice resources, then this is the model for you! You can use it even if you have an established business. I’ve used it twice already (once per year) and plan to continue using it. I’m still a very small business, but I’ve increased my sales by over 100% annually the past two years.
I don’t think The One Page Business Plan is a total solution to your business planning needs. It’s primary weakness is “just the facts ma’am”–in that it doesn’t necessarily require them and could lull some business owners into thinking that hard figures aren’t necessary or that they don’t have to understand or collect all their finances or other pertinent business data such as market demographics, tracking sales and expense, profit/loss statements. Ha!
However, if you take your time to answer all of Horan’s carefully selected questions (and collect the relevant data), you should come to a much better understanding of your business, what it has done up to this point, and where you want it to go. I love that it forces “creative” types like me to take only our best “grand ideas” and sculpt them into defined, measurable goals. It also makes going back to SBA, SCORE, and other business resources much more worthwhile because now you’ll know what you want to do with that information. I also love that it allows for flexible, adaptable planning, and planning within a timeframe that you choose (not the standard 1,3,5-year planning models).
Very good resource for new small business owners! But it’s only the beginning!
