User Ratings and Reviews
2 Stars broke after 2 weeks
The stitches were not very sturdy and the machine is somewhat difficult to use. It’s slow, loud, and has trouble stitching thick fabrics. Then it completely stopped working after two weeks. This was a waste of my money; I recommend interested buyers to spend money on a real sewing machine, one that can actually sew and not break.
1 Star poorly designed machine with one use only
If this is a one-time-use disposable machine, then it’s probably OK. Otherwise, it will only cause frustrations. There are things in life you just can’t cut corners! I want my money back and will never buy such things again.
1 Star Mini-REX should be called Mini-JUNK
This item did not work properly when it arrived and only got worse from there. The battery compartment wouldn’t close tightly enough to get the appropriate amount of power to the unit and without an alternative power source it was impossible to determine whether this was the only flaw. And seriously, what kind of company doesn’t include an AC adapter!? I even tried 5 different AC adapters that I have for other devices and although they fit perfectly, OF COURSE they didn’t work.
4 Stars Does the job…
This was the first sewing machine that I have ever used. I was kind of skeptical due to the price, but the machine actually does the job. It took me a while to figure out how it was supposed to function because the instructions were very lacking in details.
The stitching came out pretty tight and secure. I’ve used it on fabrics from bedsheets to denims. The really tough fabrics like the hem (I think) require more patience because the needle will stop. I find that turning it off and on repeatedly will make it slowly stitch. That, or manually assist the needle through the fabric using the dial located at the top with the arrow next to it.
Overall, this sewing machine is awesome!
1 Star Not for beginners
I bought this item to hem curtains. Admittedly, I am not that experienced with a sewing machine, but I found the usage directions extremely difficult to follow. It took me quite a long time to just to set up the machine for sewing. Once I got it threaded correctly (with the help of a more experienced friend), it didn’t work easily, it was very jumpy, and the whole thing seemed flimsy. The parts were also difficult to work with; for example, getting the battery compartment open was nearly impossible.
